Amazing Aerial Panoramas

image5

A group of Russian photographers are travelling the world shooting amazing aerial photos from helicopters and then stitching the photos into panoramas.

Their site is called Air Pano and the link is here.

Visit them and click on one of their panoramas. If you have a large monitor this is as much fun as an IMAX movie!

Social Media for Your Company?

Not every business benefits from involvement and presence in “social media”, according to this column in the Globe and Mail.

Don’t be intimidated into thinking that your small company must be on FaceBook to be relevant. It takes a bunch of time and it might not be reaching your primary audience. The column makes some interesting points for consideration.

Get Moving – “Running with Difficulties”

Céline Parent, with Type 1 Diabetes, and Matthew Taylor, with Cerebral Palsy, both “Global Heroes”, get ready to run the Medtronic Twin Cities 10 Mile race.

The December/January issue of HW&S magazine has just hit the streets. You can read my Get Moving column on page 10. I was happy to tell the story about Matthew Taylor, who has triumphed over his Cerebral Palsy with an implanted drug pump to control his spasticity. I met Matthew and 23 other “Global Heroes” at the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon. Now I have a new appreciation for what some people do to continue to run with medical difficulties.

Location Photography

Still photographing departments and programs on Sheridan College’s three campuses. It’s an eye-opener to see the options that are available to students and the enthusiasm that they show for the skills that they are learning.

Location photography is hard work – having to decide on the shot and then plan and light it while the class continues. And then drag the equipment to the next location.

Community Colleges

Working with Doug Hall on a photo shoot at Sheridan College. I’m really impressed by the range of programs in arts and crafts that are available and the incredible talent of the students.

Always great fun working with Doug, an amazing photographer. If only he didn’t have so much gear for me to push around!

Tremont Wood Products

Tremont is a St. Catharines custom cabinet woodshop. The company started creating fine quality custom cabinetry for custom yachts. When the company decided to expand into custom home and business interiors we assisted with the development of a new website and the publishing of a large-format company brochure. In addition to the layout and design of the piece, we also did some of the location photography including this kitchen in a beautiful, new Pelham home.

Niagara’s Majesty

Spent a few mornings watching  the sun rise over Niagara Falls to capture images of the beauty of the Niagara Parks. It’s interesting to see the mist suspended in mid air with no breeze to move it around. Beautiful, tranquil and a little mystical!

Kit Steel

An identity is the soul of every business and organization. We were approached by a rebar steel company to help them create an identity. Many people would immediately say, “What’s rebar steel?”

Rebar steel is the reinforcing rod within large sections of concrete – – in concrete stairs, bridge abutments, concrete columns and untold other construction items made with concrete.

So the challenge was how to create a symbol that makes sense to everyone – not just those in the concrete world. We did several variations and the client chose this version.

We like this logo – the steel rod in the logo looks like it’s reinforcing the solid rectangle. The lettering and shape look solid and concrete-like. The colours are modern, the name is clear and recognizeable, and the logo is adaptable to a wide variety of applications
